We are situated half way between Derby and Ashbourne. Just off the A52 between the villages of Ednaston and Hollington.

HOW MANY WORDS CAN I FIT ON THE PLAQUE?

CAN I BURY ASHES?
Ashes may be buried beside your tree any day of the week, at a time to suit you and your family/friends. We ask for 72 hours notice so that we may prepare the ground. A hole will be dug and covered over with a wood board. A spade will be left beside the tree for your use and return. Ashes must be buried in a bio degradable container or placed directly into the ground.
CAN I SCATTER ASHES?
Ashes may not be scattered.
CAN I PERSONALISE MY TREE?
You may create a small garden around your tree of approximately 3 feet (91 cms) in diameter.
Tip: Avoid digging any deeper than 5 inches (12 cms) as you will damage the roots of your tree.
Tip: Heaping soil up against the trunk of the tree will rot the trunk and may kill your tree.
Tip: Do not remove the soil as this allows the water to puddle, potentially damaging the tree.
Only ONE* small ornament may be placed by the tree. We will remove excess items. (height guide 20cm maximum)
You are welcome to plant bulbs around the tree, taking care to avoid the roots.
Please also read our Rules page
CAN I BRING MY DOGS?
Yes, well behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. Please clear up after them and please do not let them disturb the wildlife or other visitors.
IS THERE A TOILET IN THE WOOD?
Yes, please see the map for details
WHAT IF MY TREE FAILS?
Such is nature's way that inevitably a small percentage of trees will fail over the years.
If your tree should fail, please advise us.
If this occurs within 5 years of sponsorship, your tree will be replaced free of charge.
After five years there will be a replacement charge of £156. *Aug 2023
Where possible we will replace your tree in it's original position. However, this will depend upon the growth of the surrounding trees' and the availability of natural light to allow a young tree to grow. Therefore it may be necessary to ask you to choose a new tree in a different area. Any trees which require replacing will be done so during the winter months.
Alternatively you can choose to have your plaque added to our plaque wall as a permanent dedication, free of charge, or the plaque can remain in place, along with a wooden tree stake to mark the original tree position.
We reserve the right to remove any dead or dangerous trees. We will do our best to contact the sponsor in such circumstances.
Should your tree fail, we encourage you to keep on enjoying Heritage Wood and view the wood as a whole as your continuing dedication.
HOW TO LOCATE YOUR TREE?
The wood is sectioned and labelled into different letters. Please follow this LINK for a MAP to guide you
HOW MUCH OXYGEN DOES ONE TREE PRODUCE?
A mature leafy tree produces as much oxygen in a season as 10 people inhale in a year.
One acre of trees annually consumes the amount of carbon dioxide equivalent to that produced by driving an average car for 26,000 miles. That same acre of trees also produces enough oxygen for 18 people to breathe for a year
